Funkystuff guitarist Colin Stephens has met his jazz guitar hero Martin Taylor. Taylor is an exponent of solo jazz guitar playing and is renowned throughout the world, winning 'The British Jazz Award - Best Guitarist' seven times !! 2009/02/03 - Funkystuff back at the Footballers on Valentines Night!

Funkystuff are back at the Footballers in Summerseat, Bury on Saturday the 14th of February. When people come and see us - they fall in love ! We are doing two weddings this year where people have met at one of our gigs ! If you want a night of romance, come to the Footies! Be there early - this small pub will be packed !!

Thank you to Andrea for inviting Funkystuff to play at Nigel's birthday party on Saturday the 17th of Jan! We had great fun on a packed night of entertainment which included an illusionist, the Abba Angels, the Northern Lights Disco and Del Boy!

2008/10/29 - Funkystuff take a break and wait for a new arrival !
|
Funkystuff are taking a break over November and December while Stephen (keyboards) awaits a new arrival in his home. "We are expecting a new baby around the 19th of November to join the family. Imogen my 4 year old is very excited about having a new brother or sister!" Imogen recently attended her first performance of Funkystuff. Despite dancing around and having a really good time, her comment was "it's too loud!" Watch this space for the baby news !

| After the successful return to the Railway on Saturday the 6th of September, we are going back for another party!. Come and join the fun with another superb night of soul and disco!. Bring your disco dancing pants.

| Funkystuff are going on tour - at least it feels like it with 3 gigs in successive days. First we are in Penrith at Parkfoot Caravan Park, followed by trip to Lane Ends Inn in Marple Bridge on Friday and Abram Labour Club in Wigan on Saturday!

2008/07/21 - Funkystuff to play Burnley Balloon Festival
| Funkystuff will be playing the fifth annual Burnley Balloon Festival on Saturday the 26th of July. The festival is a real treat for all the family with huge hot air balloons floating in the sky over the town and the surrounding hills. There are two highlights, a spectacular fireworks display and 'Nightglow' where the balloons light up to music and Funkystuff playing on the Saturday in the beer tent!

2008/07/05 - Funkyhouse Volume One Compilation CD
We've had numerous request for a CD of the songs we play in between our sets. This music is an uplifting collection of disco house music which compliments the Old Skool style the band plays. There are 10 extended tracks on the CD featuring artists such as The Sunburst Band, Disco Darlings, Shapeshifters, Alexander O'Neal and Justin Timberlake. 2008/05/21 - Funkystuff at the UK Hovercraft Championships in Oswaldtwistle

Funkystuff are playing at the UK Hovercraft Championships in Oswaldtwistle on Sunday night the 25th of May. The event is held at ‘Magnolls Farm’ (Peach’s Pad) in Accrington near Blackburn. For directions to the event click here. The event is held over both Saturday and Sunday and should be good fun !

GEORGE Michael provided a masterclass in arena showmanship at the City of Manchester stadium. An older crowd were the main constituency among the 65,000 audience. Phalanxes of grannies with pink cowboy hats and light tubes shifted and reformed amid the constant drizzle. 2007/05/23 - Funkystuff guitarist misses gig with Cellulitis
| Colin Stephens the Funkystuff guitarist will miss the gig at the Two Tubs on the 24th of May and The Footballers on the 26th after contracting Cellulitis. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the deep layer of skin (dermis) and the layer of fat and soft tissues (the subcutaneous tissues) that lie underneath the skin. Basically it's pretty horrible and painful as you can see from the picture! We wish him a speedy recovery.

2007/05/14 - Ramfest confirmed for 20th October 2007
Ramfest is a musical charity event held in Ramsbottom. ALL proceeds from the event are donated to Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley. Funkystuff are proud participants and organisers of this event and last time we raised £1,875. We would like to think we could raise a similar amount this year with your help! Derian House Children's Hospice is one of only two in the north-west. David Beckham supports Francis House the other one in the north west - but Derian House has Ramfest! We would love to see you at the next Ramfest event on the 20th of October or you can support the charity by buying a CD! For more click here
2007/04/30 - Funkystuff at the Black Bull, Middleton
Funkystuff are appearing at the Black Bull in Middleton for the first time. The gig on Friday the 4th of May will start around 9.30pm. It will be an interesting venue as the keyboard player Stephen Dowd used to go to school just up the road! "I did pop in ocassionally for a pint, but it's been a few year!"

2007/04/12 - Funkystuff opening the cricket season
Funkystuff are playing at Brooksbottom Cricket Club on the 14th of April - the opening day of the cricket season. The party will be one of many during the season! The new professional from Australia, Dave Studholme will be introduced at the gig. The party will feature Guilty Pleasures, Funkystuff, the Funkyhouse Mix followed by the 2nd Funkystuff set. The gig will start at 9.30pm sharp !
2007/04/04 - Funkystuff back at Callenders on Easter Sunday
Funkystuff have come to the rescue at Callenders as there original act had to pull out. We didn't expect to back so soon, but it's a good gig and a pleasure to play. The band will be on stage at 5.00pm.
2007/03/12 - Funkystuff at Callenders on Mothers Day
Funkystuff are back playing at Callenders on Sunday the 18th of March. The gig starts at 4.30pm and is the final part of a big party weekend at the venue. We wish all mother's a fantastic day and we hope to see you down there!

2006/11/13 - Little Brother to guest with Funkystuff
Funkystuff are playing at the Railway Hotel, Ramsbottom on Friday the 15th December. Guesting will be Tim Wright the vocalist from 80/90's band Little Brother. Little Brother had an album out in Europe in the early nineties and will be performing a number of tracks from that album. Promises to be a great night!
2006/06/17 - Keyboard player breaks hand !
Stephen Dowd the keyboard player for Funkystuff has broken his hand. The hand that is broken is the left one but despite obvious difficulties the show will go on ! The hand was broken playing a game of cricket for his club Brooksbottom on the Saturday and after a visit to the hospital the hand was encased in plaster. Stephen comment at the time of breaking the hand was !@*!
2006/05/13 - Funkystuff at the MEN watching Earth Wind and Fire
After months of playing a tribute set to Earth Wind and Fire, we finally got the opportunity to watch the real band at the MEN, Manchester. Wow! What a band and what a great night! Right from the start the entire crowd was on its feet dancing to the EWF groove. We can't wait to see them again and to play our tribute for you ! Click here for the EWF review
